The island of Samos always observed the turbulent historical and cultural movements at the crossing between Occident and Orient. But for five years nothing has moved due to the political negligence of Brussels and Athens who won’t evacuate the inhumane refugee camps even in the face of the corona pandemic. After years of waiting the refugees and the local Greek population feel left behind. The initial helpfulness and tolerance gave way to hatred and segregation. Samos became a magnifying glass for European migration policy under which negotiations are held as to who is entitled to paradise and who is not.
