In his early years, Robert fell in love with the power of the moving image.
Raised as a child of Jewish Russian immigrants in Hanover, he uses his multicultural experience of society by approaching the storytelling and photography of his projects from various perspectives—always focusing on the characters and their inner lives. Whether documentary, fiction film, or video art installation, he aims for the camera to be an empathic translator for the audience. In this process, he trusts his intuition and experience in finding the right balance between framing, lighting, and pacing.
His work as a cinematographer and filmmaker has been shown internationally at the DokFest Munich and Rhode Island International Film Festival, among others.
