In his early years Robert fell in love with the power of the moving image.
Raised as a child of jewish-russian immigrants in Hanover he made use of his multicultural view on society for his work on film while approaching the storytelling and photography of his projects always from various perspectives at the same time – always focusing on the characters and their inner lives. Both for documentaries, fictional films and video installation for museal spaces he tries to create a camera which becomes an empathic translator for the audience.
Driven by his intuition as well as experience it’s important for him to find the right balance in framing, lighting and pace to accomplish this goal.
As a cinematographer and filmmaker he has been able to present his work on several international festivals such as DokFest Munich or Rhode Island International Film Festival.
